Please check the registration you entered carefully.
Our lookup is sourced directly from the UK Government's Vehicle Enquiry Service, so this error is usually caused by mistakes when reading or entering the vehicle registration. Be sure to check for similar looking characters (particularly letters vs digits).
Is the registration correct?
Vehicles built or first registered over 40 years do not require an MOT - providing no 'substantial changes' have been made to the vehicle in the last 30 years, for example replacing the chassis, body, axles or engine to change the way the vehicle works. However, you must still keep the vehicle in a roadworthy condition.
In Great Britain, new vehicles require an MOT on the third annual anniversary of their registration (i.e. after 3 years)†. Find Out More.
†Note: Taxis, large private passenger vehicles (9+ passenger seats), playbuses, and ambulances need to be tested after the first anniversary of registration and every 12 months thereafter (see DVSA MOT fees table for more). ‡In Northern Ireland, new private cars and motorcycles have their first MOT test at four years old, a year later than in Great Britain - see DVA (NI) for more.
The Vehicle Enquiry Service idenities your vehicle as being Exempt from an MOT. We recommend you verify this and check the status directly with them. You must also still keep it in a roadworthy condition.
